Collaborating under the name Tin Can Forest, Pat Shewchuk and Marek Colek have been creating books, comics and animations for the past several years. Splitting their time between Toronto and the West Coast, Tin Can Forest’s work is deeply impacted by the Canadian landscape, Slavic folklore and the occult.
Their latest book, “We are Going to Bremen To Be Musicians,” is a reinterpretation of the classic Grimm fairytale, in which four animals past their prime in life seek refuge from slaughter in the town of Bremen. In keeping with the intentions of the tale, half of all Canzine sales from the book will be donated to a Farm Animal Sanctuary in Ontario.
