This zine has two stories in it– “somnambulant” and “in the hall of the gingerbread king”–and both of them have a silly, charming quality that I like a lot. In “somnambulant,” an insomniac girl meets a roving gang of sleep-deprived drifters who take her to one of the city’s after-hours milk bars. In “gingerbread king,” two kids find a gingerbread house owned by vampires and attempt to free the prisoners inside. Laura’s drawing style is sometimes a little too crowded for my taste, but all in all, any zine that contains the phrase “the only way is for a truly radical child to eat through their houses!” is fine by me.
