Carve

Carve is a very tidy literary zine published semi-annually on nice brownish paper stock. The short stories and poems, all from Montreal writers, are fun to read, without seeming unintelligent of simplistic. Some of the pieces read like first drafts, but that’s okay, I like first drafts. They’re more honest than polished edits. It’s a brilliant writer who can make her polished edits read like first drafts. Or an incompetent one. She’s brilliant or incompetent. It’s a fine zine that marries brilliance and incompetence. (Evan Dickson)
