Collapsing Opposites, Inside Chance

Ryan McCormick is definitely seeking out the kids with bicycles and haircuts on his new album, Inside Chance. Having expanded the Collapsing Opposites line-up to cope with the rigors of touring, McCormick’s clever, “Polka Dot Door meets Nite Flights” arrangements alternatively lurch and strut beneath very wry, very knowing lyrics about big musical dreams, indie rocker posing and the realities of being “the friend of a friend of a friend of someone with taste.” This is an eviscerating, ego-bruising album that should be passed from hand to hand this summer without fail. Not recommended for those wearing more than one item of ironic clothing at any given time. (Karyn Bonham)
