Foffle

This independent Australian magazine, aimed at “the discerning layabout,” consists principally of ongoing, in-depth pop culture lists. For instance, Australia’s worst TV game shows and “Cover Versions Part 4: Radical Reinterpretations.” More specific music coverage is skewed toward classic Aussie rock groups likely unknown to North American ears (e.g. four full pages tracing the career of the Pink Finks). The discerning international reader should also know that over a third of issue 26 is devoted to Australian football trivia, including a two-page retrospective of naff footy cards. Foffle is rounded out by crosswords, a zine review section, and a pop culture quiz. (Daniel Marrone)
