Maniac Mansion presents Pizza Time Theatre is 35 minutes of NES-like originals with a sloppy punk backing, divided up with some humorously random sound clips. With the exception of the odd playful and friendly instrumental, most of the CD is a suitable soundtrack for an action/adventure game–Contra, Narc, Double Dragon–delivering visions of an 8-bit space war or a street fight. With no track listing, this CD is meant to be a no-brainer of childishly intense background music. Although, upon first and second listen it is enjoyable, the entertainment value lasts as long as hooking up that old NES to remember the good old days and then quickly realizing why technology moved forward.
