Salt & Slush

In the interests of full disclosure, it is perhaps best to point out that this cookbook is being reviewed by someone who doesn’t cook. However, after reading it I was tempted to try. Salt & Slush is a collection of winter-friendly recipes and crafts, as well as a gallery of different types of winter boots because, well, what’s a cookbook without a strange tangent about footwear? The recipes sound delicious, and seem relatively simple to make. The main difficulties come from the author’s sometimes-illegible handwriting, and with the contents of the recipes themselves. Some of them are obviously incomplete and would require a good deal of experimentation to figure out. This zine’s definitely not for the domestically challenged or the faint of heart, but the author has some great ideas, and with a little bit of patience they would almost certainly pay off. (J.
