This zine is just what it sounds like — a tiny collection of tiny poems made out of phrases from different people’s searchbar histories. Think about the feeling of using someone else’s laptop, typing the letter ‘e’ into Google and accidentally seeing everything they’ve looked up from enemas to Everything Is Illuminated. Now imagine that feeling without the guilt, but with the added thrill of reading something beautifully constructed. Searchbar History is lovely and strange and almost too sincere at times — poems like “Virginity” (“never been kissed/ask women/sex toys for guys/[…] dinner for one”) would seem cheesy and obvious without the introductory explanation about how all these searches are real and unaltered. There are 24 very short poems in this collection, and within that a development of tone and style most big-name published poets would be proud of. (Emma Healey)
