The Doers, Gaiety

Absolutely perfect. Again! Do the Doers have a single bad song? I’m not even sure that’s possible at this point. This album starts at incred-ible, builds up to the song “I’m On Sale,” and then seems to plateau–only it isn’t true, you’ve just been hit with so much good music that you can’t tell anymore. You’re delirious. How many fingers am I holding up? Anyway, for those who don’t know, The Doers play ’80s hardcore (think Minutemen)-tinged acousticthrough-an-amp rock with positive, but not uncritical, lyrics. Basically they’re holding you up day after day, while at the same time getting you stoked to fight the good fight. And when was the last time any band did that for you? (Matt Collins)
