Verbicide

VerbicideMagazine.com is the companion web-site for the quarterly magazine Verbicide. As you scan over the home page you’ll notice that advertisements take up a lot of space. There are numerous ads on every single page of the site. It’s very distracting. The diminutive font size makes for difficult reading. What’s more disappointing than the general upsetting layout is the terrible writing. The interview questions are obvious (What’s your favourite colour?) and the narratives assert baseless points. The writers are preachy and they seem proud of it. They have a distinct disgust for the American South and it doesn’t come off as funny or even tongue in cheek. I didn’t find out anything redeeming about the site at all. (Josh Price)
