filling Station presents: From the Page to the Stage! Reading and Performing for Writers at Canzine Calgary

Canzine Calgary is just around the corner! Join us this October 27th from 12pm-6pm in the Memorial Park Public Library for a day of zines, comics, chapbooks and DIY!

As part of Canzine Calgary, filling Station Magazine is thrilled to host From the Page to the Stage, an experiential workshop led by writer, performer, and facilitator Rita Bozi from 4:30pm – 5:30pm.

During this one hour event, Rita will share some of her expertise for bringing your writing to life in front of an audience, facilitate a discussion about performance, and guide new and experienced readers alike through the embodiment of their work in a fun, relaxed and low-pressure environment. Bring a short excerpt of your own writing to rehearse and explore with the group, though space will be made for those who would prefer to listen in. This is an all-ages and abilities event, so please also bring your consideration of others as we learn and grow together.

Rita is a writer, performer, retired dancer, playwright and somatic relational
trauma-informed Facilitator. Her co-written play 52 Pick Up, translated into
French and Icelandic, has received productions in six countries. She is co-artistic
director of Productive Obsession, a multidisciplinary performance company that
has presented work in Calgary, Banff, Vancouver, Whitehorse, Ottawa, Estonia,
Iceland and Hungary. Rita wrote and starred in The Damage is Done with Dr.
Gabor Maté. She has published in The New Quarterly, FFWD Weekly, Pages of
Stories, WritingRaw.com, Unlikely 2.0 and won 3rd Prize in THIS Magazine’s
Great Canadian Literary Hunt in 2012. She has completed her first novel, When I
Was Better.
