CALL FOR MORE LETTERS & PROSE SUBMISSIONS! ???? We would love for you to join the Marias at Sampaguitas family. We have a few letters & prose on our site (link in bio!) but we would love to have more! Our DMs are always open for questions! ✨ Marias at Sampaguitas aims to elevate and highlight the voices of marginalized individuals, people of color, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, non-binary identifying folx, and everyone in between. Representation is power, and we want to showcase the power in these writers’ voices. The title of the magazine is in the dialect, Tagalog, of the Philippines translating to “Marias and Sampaguitas,” ‘maria’ being the default christened name for a Filipina, a Filipino woman, and ‘sampaguita’ being the national flower of the Philippines. We are looking for writing to match our slogan, ‘pagsulat sa mga bulaklak, which means, ‘when writing on flowers.’ Flowers are gentle and fragile, yet convey certain emotions and messages, depending on its species. We want your coded words, your cries for attention. Even though the title and slogan are in Tagalog, we accept submissions from everyone from all backgrounds. We hope to be a feminist, inclusive publication. Please allow 1-3 days for a response. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay contributors at this time, but we will promote published pieces on the magazine’s Twitter and Instagram. We do not have submission deadlines; we are perpetually open for submissions. So, even if you’ve submitted previously, we welcome multiple submissions! We publish in order of receipt, so we will space out the publication/release of each of your pieces. Send us your work! Submissions may be sent to [email protected]. Thank you very much! Maraming salamat po!
