Pride and power is the consistent message at the heart of this grrrl comic, created by artist Emily Cowan, author of the more developed comic series Boundary. Each page of this half- size zine features different badass women including a soldier, crip punk, mother, a lesbian couple, etc. Each person is labeled as a “badass” with a arrow pointing to her. Although there’s not anything particularly deep to this approach, there is a lovely humility to Cowan’s choices as to who gets represented here — both young and old, formal and informal, black and white, second wave and third wave.
