Indie Events: Aug 27 – Sept 3

MONTREAL

August 31 – September 1, Bicycle Film Festival, Cinema Du Parc, 3575 Avenue du Parc, all films $10 or $23 for festival pass

Now in its fourth year, this groundbreaking festival features music, art and films about bikes. This year the program features The King of the Ice, a documentary about Toronto’s notorious outdoor bicycle race on an ice rink, Rockville, a film about a tiny Italian town that gets converted into a giant race course once a year, and Sister Session, a documentary about the women’s BMX community. Sounds good – and there’s free bike valet parking at each screening. Perfect.

VANCOUVER

Saturday September 1, 6pm-10pm, Geeks After Dark: It’s Time To Play The Music, The Cellar Nightclub, 1006 Granville

A night of burlesque in tribute to the Muppets. Oh yes.
