Out and About: 12-Hour Zine Machine Workshop

Last Thursday, we stopped by the Rustic Owl in Toronto for the 12-Hour Zine Machine Workshop. This event was a warm-up for the Nuit Blanche art installation 12 Hour Zine Machine, happening from Sept 29 – 30 at the Gladstone. Run by The Madeline Collective, the event will bring together ten Toronto zinesters who will, over a 12-hour period, create a zine an hour based on suggestions provided by Nuit Blanche attendees. Many of the Nuit Blanche participants were on hand to collaborate, socialize and flex their zine-making muscles in preparation for the big event. They each had an hour to create a zine page that will be collected and shown at the project’s website shortly.

Witness the Idea Board, where people submitted ideas and suggestions for tonight’s zines. Highlights: “Stuff I Stole When I Was Twelve” and “Where I’ve Thrown Up.”

Zack from the Steel Bananas Collective reads out the ideas VERY LOUDLY.

LET’S GET TO WORK SHALL WE?

YES.

Blog.to did a great write-up of the event here. Keep an eye on the project’s website for the finished zine from Thursday evening. We’ll also be having a chat with the organizers about this project, so keep an eye out for that.
