We’ll assume Jermaine Clarke (a.k.a. Astro Mega) knows that a planet can’t be a nebula, nor a nebula a planet. It must be a planet named Nebula. This latest outing from the Toronto producer lands near the early recordings of fellow Canadian Nick Holder: at the inter-section of jazz, house, and hip-hop, with well-placed vocal samples. Clarke is in a hurry, however. He blows through 15 instrumentals in 26 minutes, making this feel like more of an experiment than a completed vision. A groove ends just when you’re starting to dig it.
