Conglom-o Zine a rad tribute to Rocko’s Modern Life

Conglom-o Zine
Zine, Nick McIvor, 20 pgs, conglomozine.tumblr.com

This Rocko’s Modern Life tribute zine is slick. The cover is colourful and glossy. It feels very legit when you pick it up and crack its wee lil’ spine — and it is well worth a crack, because the content is pretty reviewed on rad. Produced and designed by Nick McIvor, this comic is actually a compilation of a few different artists who lend drawings, comics, musings and miscellaneous, Rocko relevant ramblings to the end product. The consistency is in the production, and McIvor does a really nice job at ensuring everything looks highly “profesh,” regardless of who is throwing their work into the mix. I hate to play favourites, but probably the best part was “Rocko Goes to Conglom-o-con” by Benjamin Drake. It’s about our favourite bouncy little wallaby and his visit to a collector’s convention. Not much happens, but it’s cheery, kind of weird, and inarguably fun. For those who want to see more, there’s an associated Tumblr page that likewise offers a few smiles and a few WTFs. Again, it’s all quality, and the attention to detail here feels like it elevates the product 10-20% or so. So yeah, good job.
