About: A zine of writing related to poverty
Publisher: Kissing Dynamite, A Journal of Poetry
Submitters: Submitters should have experienced poverty first-hand. This zine is for authentic, reflective submissions that are centered around a submitter’s own past or present reality of poverty. This is not the place for savior stories: Don’t write about that time you helped a homeless person, don’t send voyeuristic, observatory, or self-congratulatory art about poverty.
Submissions: All printed submissions welcome. Hybrid work, visual art, collages, photography, poetry, prose, essays, zine-style “how-to” lists, etc.—anything goes, within reason.
Proceeds: All proceeds from zine sales will be donated to Food Not Bombs, a worldwide organization dedicated to providing free, healthy food to those who cannot afford to buy.
Deadline: April 22

IT'S HAPPENING! Emotional Magazine is happy to announce that our second call for submissions is now open! Our next issue theme is Enouement! This issue is an ode to all the experience of contemplating the first issue, and then actually creating it. The combination of the moments that went into the magazine, and then actually being able to touch it was something that I couldn't even imagine at the beginning of this adventure. And honestly I wish I could have told myself to start earlier. Again, there is a word for it, so it must be given the spotlight! Same as before, send your work that you feel best exemplifies what this word means to you. We want different understandings of how you express your emotions! We are accepting: – Short stories (max 2000 words) – Photography – Digital Art – Comic Strips – Sketches, drawings, paintings, illustrations, collage – Personal Essays (max 2000 words) – Poetry (min. haiku) – Honestly whatever you feel fits the theme, submit and we can discuss! Please include a 150 max artist bio, artwork medium, social media/way to contact, SUBMISSION DEADLINE: May 31st, 2019 Send all magazine entries, as well as collaboration proposals to [email protected] Thanks Lovelies!
