Live on our mainstage in front of a crowing crowd, you get two minutes to pitch your book to our panel of judges. They get one minute each to tell you why you’ll never get published in a million, billion years, or why they want to see your manuscript in their inbox ASAP.

The winner of the pitch gets bragging rights and a Broken Pencil prize pack worth $200.
Our AMAZING Judges this year:
Heather Kanabe is Word On The Street Toronto’s Festival Director. Heather is a graduate of the University of Toronto Honours BA, Specialist Designation in Arts Management, Major in Art History and an MBA from the HULT International Business School in Dubai.
Andrew Hunter is an accomplished curator, artist, writer and educator. He is the Fredrik S. Eaton Curator, Canadian Art, at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
Teri Vlassopoulos is the author of the forthcoming novel Escape Plans and the award-nominated collection Bats or Swallows. Her fiction has appeared in Room Magazine, Joyland, Little Fiction, and various other North American journals. She lives in Toronto.
Hal Niedzviecki is a writer, speaker, culture commentator and editor. He’s the current fiction editor and the founder of Broken Pencil, the magazine of zine culture and the independent arts. He is the author of eight books, including the collection of short stories Look Down, This is Where it Must Have Happened (City Lights, April 2011) and the non-fiction book Trees on Mars: Our Obsession With the Future (Seven Stories Press) out this October.
