Since there is a familial theme running throughout this issue, it would seem remiss not to mention John Bryant’s short, Oh My God. Screened at many film festivals, including Sundance, in 2005, Oh My God is an ominous tale of a working-class man’s worst nightmare. While the beginning of the film keeps hitting us over the head with his pain until we’re so numb with it that we can’t stop laughing, the end takes an unexpected turn. Though the main, and only speaking, character in the film has minimal dialogue and only one emotion, this is a comedy-horror film worth seeking out. (Lindsay Gibb)
