In Lisa Lipton’s short film, a stark winter landscape is haunted by faceless, dancing ghosts. The soundtrack-all strings and violent winds-adds an element of suspense to the scene, as the couple dances more or less gracefully in and out of frame. It is pure, early David Lynch, poetic and incomprehensible, odd, and oddly charming.
Each year, I am fascinated by the return of ice, wind and snow, and perhaps for this reason, this short film held my attention and captivated my imagination. I wanted to know more. Where did our heroes come from? Where were they going? Did winter ever end?
I anticipate that future offerings by Lisa Lipton will be equally compelling. (Andree Lachapelle)
