After reading this issue I get the sense of there being a gentle wise nature goddess hovering somewhere over Winnipeg sprinkling good karma and kindness on the world she inhabits. This is a post-Flood of ‘97 issue and thus there’s a good rumination of what that was like, well done with both collage and text. There’s also a whole whack of prairie botany complete with drawings and a write-up on Hypatia of Alexandria – an influential female mathematician, astronomer and scholar who lived from 370-415 AD. It’s the subtle feminism, the peaceful, honest stories and the down-to-earth tidbits that make Prudence a strangely familiar, yet unique zine. (HC)
