While Valdimagra has some really great artwork, and Szopiak’s sense of layout is quite sophisticated, the storyline here is very murky and almost impossible to figure out. I’ve no doubt there is a story, and it is a complex one, but it feels like you need to have read other issues to know what’s going on. The scenario is heavily goth, with un-dead dudes wanting revenge on living dudes. A resurrected Macbeth makes an appearance towards the end. That’s about as far as I could penetrate. Too bad, because with a bit more exposition, this could have been a really exciting book. A good proofread would have helped too. (Shaun Smith)
