Back in the day when I played guitar and failed to get any fully functioning band off the ground, I desperately wanted to write songs with the atonal whomp and buzz of all those Blast First bands I listened to incessantly, but I could never figure out how to do it. All I knew were the major chords, so everything I played sounded like a folk song or a blues-based punk tune. I had a hard enough time tuning my guitar the normal way, so I never toyed with alternate tunings. Baby Control have it figured out and listening to them sends me back to my parent’s basement and the years I spent under the influence of the noisy rock that I never listen to anymore. Why not? No good reason. In fact, I’m going to head down to my basement and dust off some of the old vinyl ’cause according to Baby Control, this stuff holds up well. (Terence Dick)
