The Barns Art Market returns for its second annual Holiday Edition. For only two weekends, the Covered Street Barn at Artscape Wychwood Barns is transformed into a holiday-themed marketplace—complete with Christmas tree and seasonal café—that features some of the city’s finest artists, craftspeople, designers and makers.

The Centre for Art Tapes is proud to host a screening of Buzkashi Boys, a film produced by Ariel Nasr and directed by Sam French. The screening will close with a discussion about Nasr’s experience producing a narrative film on the ground in Kabul, Afghanistan. The screening is a fundraiser for Nasr’s non-profit organization which aims to strengthen the local film industry in Kabul. Tickets are available at the door by donation; 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Afghan Film Project, a non-profit that builds capacity in Afghanistan’s film industry.

For the past 18 years, the Women’s Winter Faire (formerly known as the Women’s Winter Arts & Crafts Faire) has presented many of BC’s talented women artisans and craftswomen. Over 50 booths of creative, funky, beautiful, ecologically-sound and diverse gifts. With an in-house cafe, background music and a vibrancy that rocks the hall, the beautiful Heritage Hall is transformed into a bustling village square, where friends meet, greet, eat and shop!! The Women’s Winter Faire is a curated show which creates community, and gives back to the community. Over the past 18 years, the door donation has raised over $90,000 for local and worldwide grassroots organizations who oftentimes have less than adequate funding resources. This year, proceeds from the door will go to benefit victims of Hurricane Sandy.
