Hags on Fire
About
Hags on Fire is a biannual literary zine focused on women’s embodied experiences of perimenopause, menopause, and croning—minus the patriarchy.
Submissions
If you’re in a body that’s going through perimenopause, menopause or post-menopause regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression, specifically looking for works from BIPOC folks, neurodivergent folks, non cis-het folks, and folks with physical disabilities.
What we’re looking for:
Fiction and Creative Nonfiction and Hybrid work up to 2000 words, flash fiction, flash CNF up to 750 words, poetry (up to about 100 lines), comics are OK (and I love them!), but know this is a Squarespace site, so format options are limited, book reviews (up to 2000 words) – the book must be a novel or creative nonfiction (memoir, lyric essays, etc) or a graphic novel, we would especially love book reviews showcasing books by and about BIPOC and their aging experiences, no reviews of books advocating for any specific treatment approach.
Pay
No payment, writers keep all rights to their work.
