Call for Submissions: Elevate BIPOC/QTPOC voices

Brown Citizen Circle

ABOUT

“The Brown Citizen Circle (BCC) is a newly established community organization (as of April 2021) that aims to elevate the voices of BIPOC/QTPOC youth. We aim to place a specific focus on amplifying Brown voices (Black, Indigenous, and South Asian). Our group seeks to foster a dialogue between racialized and privileged communities across Ontario to validate the lived experiences of Brown youth while increasing avenues for stronger allyship.

For our non-profit to be the first step in elevating social impact through the establishment of a long-term objective, we aim to inspire BIPOC/QTPOC youth to have their experiences heard, seen and represented while utilizing their voices as true catalysts for change. We are currently committed to hosting virtual events capable of engaging different communities in advocating for BIPOC/QTPOC lives. Another way we aim to do this is through our Zine.”

SUBMISSIONS

The BCC Zine is an annual virtual publication that highlights the artistic contributions of BIPOC youth between the ages of 15 and 29 (specifically spotlighting Black, Indigenous, and South Asian voices). It will consist of a variety of diverse art forms including, but not limited to, visual art (any medium), music (composition or a performance – if you will perform a piece, it must be written by a BIPOC individual), sculpture, photography, mini film series, or a written work (prose or poetry).
