Do you know Elija Montgomery? If you don’t, you should, ’cause as far as we’re concerned, he’s the real deal. When he’s not making bow ties, for sale and for deserving celebrities such as Bill Nye, Elija can also be found making monsters (like, foreal), working at the Site Bee pop-up shop in Parkdale, tabling at the Toronto Queer Zine Fair, or, you know, being the cover boy for our summer DIY Issue!

At Canzine this year, Elija will be part of the supreme team racing to make a zine for the Hollywood Zine Rip Off, a live zine-making event where a team of makers is challenged to make a movie-themed zine while the clock is ticking. Elija has a little practice for this— he and his teammates won the Broken Pencil/Word on the Street Zine Race this year.

  1. Today, I went to the beachfront with my kids.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said
“You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear
and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to
    tell someone!
