We are really excited to bring the wonderful Leanne Prain on board as one of our Radical Readers at Canzine West this Saturday!
Leanne Prain is an expert on subversive textiles, which we first encountered through her groundbreaking book Yarn Bombing: The Art of Crochet and Knit Graffiti (co-authored with Mandy Moore) as well as Hoopla: The Art of Unexpected Embroidery.
Her method of “craftivism” pushes against “cute kittens and ducks” and instead creates a deeply personal, political and community-oriented movement. Her most recent book is Strange Material: Storytelling Through Textiles, and she’ll be sharing more from this work at Canzine West on Sat Nov 8. She live and writes in Vancouver, BC and can be found online at leanneprain.com.
Leanne will be on the CBC’s North by Northwest program on Saturday morning (between 6am-9am) before Canzine West! Other places you can read more about Leanne and the weekend’s events:

Hello there! This post could not be written any better!
Reading through this post reminds me of my old room mate!

elaborate a little bit further. Appreciate it!
