So this is my very first blog post on Broken Pencil and I wanted to find something strange for even the underground world.
Did you ever think that Beyonce could inspire an eccentric art movement? This Youtuber will make you forget how the songs even sound like in the first place! Actress Nina Millin intensifies the pop Queen’s words by dramatically distorting the mainstream melody and dramatizing the meaning behind the lyrics. I love how she creates a monologue in such an innovative way. Check her out below and then subscribe to fall in love!
Zen Pencils is an incredible initiative by cartoonist Gavin Aung Than. He converts quotes from famous people to meaningful art and creative cartoons. They are very innovative way to visually showcase powerful proverbs and quotes. “To JK Rowling, from Cho Chang”
Disclaimer: I LOVE the Harry Potter series. But I do not think they are perfect. Racism is very prevalent in pop culture. Rachel Rostad calls Rowling out on typecasting races in her storyline and especially generalizing Cho Chang. Rostad points out how Cho Chang is exoticized and ultimately flung aside when she was no longer relevant to Potter’s pubescent urges. Rachel does the spoken word in a snappy and satirical way that is fun to watch. You’ll definitely want to snap your fingers to her burns!
Hope you check them out and like ’em!
