Enough with the grandiose. Let’s get back to a life of domesticity.
Today’s roundup is all about the simple things. The less busy, the better. I mean, it’s Friday; why would you want to do anything else but relax at home? Anything more would be foolishness. Don’t worry, I’m getting all the chores done today. I have some internet links. You like internet links, right?
Right. I’ve got you covered.
Gourmet Gaming
I demand to know why no one told me this blog exists sooner.
There’s this weird effect older games have had on a generation: food was somehow synonymous with health. Turkey leg on the ground? Health. Mushroom? Health. Floating cheesecake? Better get it before Dracula arrives, because that’s gonna give you a whole lotta health.
Anyway, Gourmet Gaming looks at food from games both new and old, and makes them real. Not only that, it provides the recipe and rates on a level of difficulty each food item it covers. Yes, you can bake and eat your own sweet roll. I haven’t tried any of these yet myself, but you better believe I’m going to make it happen… starting with this bit of Caelondic magic.
High-Five the Internet
Yesterday, I’ll have you know, was international high-five day. But if you missed out and feel as though you lost your chance to get some sweet hand-on-hand slapping action, don’t worry. This is the internet! It solves everything! High-Five the Internet provides you with a never-ending loop of happy strangers offering you one up high. Just click the link and high-five your screen for as long as you want!
An Ode to Bookstore Cats
Books and cats. And limericks.
What would you expect? Like I said before, this is the internet. The internet’s all about that stuff. So why not combine them all into one single gallery? That, my friend, is what we call efficiency!
Good Grief
Once again I’m leaving you all with something I feel is a bit more thoughtful. Good Grief is an animated documentary of five real people who’ve encountered loss of something – or someone – special in their lives; whether it’s a pet rabbit, a limb, or a friend.
We’ve all experienced it in our lives, but through the cute animation and heart-breaking voice-over narrative, there’s a genuine catharsis and hopeful message in all of it. I’d say more, but, well, I want you to see it for yourself. Have at it.
That’s all for this week! As always, I’ll see you next Friday with more internet gems!
