Mi’kmaq Warriors Speaking Tour, 6:30pm, Toronto Council Fire Native Cultural Centre, 439 Dundas Street East

Members of the Mi’kmaq Warriors Society who have been arrested and incarcerated will be on a speaking tour in January and February to raise awareness about their struggle against fracking, their ongoing assertion and exercise of nationhood, and the repression they face from police and courts. Featuring member Suzanne Patles, representatives from Grassy Narrows Asubpeeschoseewagong Women’s Drum Group, the Native Youth Sexual Health Network and others.

Zine-author, stand-up comedian and playwright Dave Cave combines zine reading, comedy and audience participation in a weird performance art/reality show event OF THE DECADE. He will be accepting boyfriend applications, reviewing them live on-stage, and deciding who will win a date with Dave Cave. Applications/sign-up for the chance to win a date will be at the door. Guests are welcome to come witness romance in the making.  Special guests Jessica Lewis and Raymi the Minx will open up with some readings. Plus it’s a potluck.
