This annual event hosted by the Toronto Slam Team features the best in nerd/geeky/offbeat poetry. Doors are at 7pm and sign-up is at 7:30. There’s two rounds, a top prize for the winner and prizes for all participating poets. Featuring special guest Barbara Adler.
This festival brings together both local and international animators, boasting a ton of great workshops and some interesting opportunities for students and beginning animators to pitch and receive feedback on their own work. What better way to celebrate these hot and sultry summer nights than with a slowdance? Put on your Saturday best and come to this fun event, which features “designated dancers” to draw the wallflowers onto the floor and dancecards to help you organize your night (and your dance partners.) It takes place in a school gym with a mirror ball. Amazing.
A night celebrating the creative practices and technologies surrounding the design of video games. A bunch of games will be on display, including Minimal Mario (a version of Super Mario Brothers reduced to its most basic elements) a game adaptation of Wikileaks, and much more. The evening’s special guest artist is Anna Anthropy, who was recently featured in Issue # 55 of Broken Pencil.
