Into the comics mines with Halifax illustrator GC Houle

I often joke that I’m “heading off to the comics mines” when I buckle down to work.

For me, making art is a rewarding but often difficult process. Nothing flows out, I have to patiently carve everything out. My office is dark and quiet (aside from my cat), perfect for creating, but also perfect for going stir-crazy — especially when something isn’t working. I’m grateful that it’s a space I can close the door on as needed, as work-life balance is very important to me!

G.C. Houle is a French-Canadian comic artist currently residing in Halifax, Nova Scotia. They love telling funny, feel-good love stories about queer people, in every sense of the word “queer.” To view their body of work, visit gchoule.com.
