Get excited for Suffragette City zine’s second ever issue coming this November. The zine, which focuses on amplifying the intellectual and creative ideas from women, will be launching its Politics issue the weekend before the U.S. general election.
Obviously, there’s a lot to talk about. But because Suffragette is a yearly publication, pieces are much more personal than just explaining political views. Founder and editor-in-chief Gwynn Galitzer says this issue will discuss power struggles in relationships, religion and prayer, terrorism and dealing with tragedy, the roles of First Ladies throughout modern American history, the murder of Michael Brown in Ferguson, MO, growing up in Chile under the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet, and of course how much they despise Donald Trump. “Haha, it’s a lot,” says Galitzer, “but we have the best time working on it… We are all about promoting the intellectual and creative ideas of strong women and encourage others to let us know what they’re working on so we can help get the word out.” In fact, most of the writers in the Politics issue were found through an open call.
