This zine delivers exactly what the title promises, and that’s the problem. For those who believe in the bible, it’s a matter of faith, not dependent on complete internal consistency. Pointing out contradictions is not going to shake their faith. For those of us who think of the bible as merely a good read, pointing out 101 contradictions isn’t going to do much for us either. We already don’t take it as gospel. It doesn’t help that most of the contradictions examined in this zine are pretty insignificant. Does anyone care on exactly which day Jerusalem fell, on exactly which day the Transfiguration happened or whether God wants hair to be long or short. Some are interesting. Certainly, differing Biblical accounts of the virgin birth are significant, as is the question of whether everyone can find salvation. But, for the most part, this zine avoids examining issues of real interest to everybody. The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah and Lot and the two strangers have been used for years to condemn whole groups of people. Yet, these stories can have wildly differing interpretations. That’s where debating the bible becomes important. (KR)
