Crying Clown Zine is filled with mostly good little hidden surprises. For example, Chris Miller’s article on ‘Stinks the Clown’ is very amusing. Just imagine a clown who enjoys drinking vodka out of liquid Drano bottles, and likes to pull a rubber chicken out of his pants at children’s birthday parties. As a Canadian content bonus, we are given an extensive history of Kids in the Hall. There is also a disturbing story written by David Berkowitz, most famously known as Son of Sam. This convicted killer tells us about his psychotic past and how God saved him from Satan. This last piece is strange, a little creepy, but overall an interesting bonus to the zine. What I didn’t like about the zine were the fiction pieces. A lot of them had potential, but dwindled down to a series of clichés. (Audrey Gagnon)
