The proof’s in the pudding-Duppy is a hit. Ansis Purins drew this comic and did a damn fine deed in the deed he/she did. It’s a bit all-over-the-place but from what I can surmise, you have five separate stories at work here: “Duppy”, “Magic Island”, “Fux”, “Cry, Hippie”, “Zombre”. The five stories can be described as such in the form of a numbered list for the math majors in the audience. 1. Country store employee Duppy is harassed by an asshole zombie and gets revenge the old fashioned way. 2. A Jamaican comic steeped in religion features drawings of Lee “Scratch” Perry (aka Super Ape) and Peter Tosh. 3. Menacing robot emerges from nowhere and promptly does some household chores. 4. Ugly trippy, dippy hippie dude cries and cries some more. 5. Weirdo monster jerkface gets the snot kicked out of him by a leopard and various other mammals. And the weird part is “Zombre” reads back-to-frON Talk about super-alternative! (Cameron Gordon)
