Ella is a wistful expression of the desires of an unnamed protagonist who wishes she lived in another time, possessed musical talent and lived a romantic and famed life. It is soft, featuring chalky white lines on a black background, full of light and shadow that develop exactly the romance and mystique that the protagonist craves to be enveloped in herself. It is a sweet and simple fantasy, put into brief expression in this elegant zine. My only complaint is that it is a little sparse to warrant a $5 price tag. However the narrative would be a nice addition to a larger collection. (Grace Evans)
