Geekdom has long plagued zine-creators, but Rita isn’t afraid to hold up her acne laden face, squint through her thick glasses, tug at her unwashed outfit, scuff at the pavement in her “uncool shoes” and be summarily ignored by everyone in her high-school. That’s right kids, Rita is a geek and she’s pretty fucking proud of it. What follows in this zine is an exegesis on being a girlgeek, what it means, how you know you are one, and why girlgeeks should never, ever, go to their proms (alone, of course). While this isn’t as funny as Rita’s last effort, Sleeping Pill, it is not without its pith. Particularly zestful is Rita’s angry attack on Geek-appropriation (see Lisa Loeb, Sassy, and 17).
