Focusing on issues of environment and resources based communities in northern Ontario, Highgrader is an important magazine in that it provides a forum for writers and issues in Northern Ontario. With a kind of by northlanders for northlanders kind of ideology, it gives voice to those who may not have had one before, and isn’t that what this indy publishing thing is really all about? It deals with the history of small mining communities, what it’s like to live there now, and contemplates the future. It’s heavy on community, but with articles on history, and the environment, there is something for everyone to be found within. (SD)
