Niki owns 10,000 records. She is the Music Geek. It’s a joy to see Niki write, because she really knows what she’s talking about. Her attention is mostly on the independent music scene. This issue starts with a funny story of Shattered Youth, Niki’s band that never played music, then there’s an interview with cowpunk band Mary Prankster, the recollection of a WWF ticket buying morning and all the hoopla around having The Undertaker around to sign paraphernalia, an interview with Chicago band Minim, and one with two guys putting on a punk rock television show in Phoenix. Following that are many pages of reviews that of Nashville Pussy, Alice Cooper, the Deftones and much more. The only warning I can give is that there is no focus on any particular genre, so a particular reader might only care for a few of the bands. However the good writing makes this a must-get for people who want to discover some new bands worth listening to. (FA)
