Another poetry chapbook. What to say? Phill’s trip to Kingston seems to be filled with women trouble. Alas, in Brunette he makes this heartbreakingly clear: “You are so beautiful/I am glad we met/But tomorrow will come/And my hesitation will be/My ‘long distance’ regret.” Man, if that doesn’t just about sum everything up about a Queen’s University frat party I don’t know what does. My only suggestion to Phill would be to maybe include the odd simile or analogy here or there to really bring the babe alive. (DP)
