This is kind of a country-side theme zine, entirely written by Jeff. The zine starts out with a hilarious reply to a reader’s letter about The World’s Best Dog, Jeff’s friend Skeeter. Then a few pages are spent on road trips. Jeff gives tips on community involvement, The Secret to a Long Life, canoeing and cross-country skiing. It’s a Bikey Life has a report on Jeff’s entry in an HPV (Human-Powered Vehicle) race and the recumbent rig he bought from a pro team. There are two FAQs that list the pros and cons of animal rights and gun control. After that, Jeff has some interesting insight into the kids and guns issue. Jeff is also a book publisher, and about 25 pages are reprints from many of the numerous books he has published through OYB Press, which covers topics similar to the rest of the zine. A lot of issues that your average ziner will tackle are present in this zine, except that Jeff is a mature man in his 40s with lots of life experience who lives in the countryside, not a (sub)urban youngster trying to make his mark in the zine world. This makes for honest, down to earth writing in the oldschool tradition of American zine writing. (Francois Atreides)
