Remember the rise of East Coast 1990s bands, like Thrush Hermit and Eric’s Trip? Then you’ve got a pretty fair approximation of Shotgun Jimmie. The Sackville, New Brunswick band has gone through several reformations, first as the duo Shotgun & Jaybird and then as a trio with Julie Doiron. Today it’s down to Shotgun Jimmie, otherwise known as Jim Kilpatrick, who specializes in three-minute rock songs about the life of an indie rock musician (think touring, boozing and lost love), all delivered in his signature wry, talk-sing style.
