Billed as a “journal of revolutionary thought and action”, Spartacus is interesting in that it takes no real political stance of its own. It ranges from articles by the late Russian anarchist Mikhail Bakunin to the speeches of Subcommandte Marcos of the Zapatistas to friendly interviews with a Klansman to an exploration of supposed Zionist bio-warfare in the third world. The only common thread is that there is no context, analysis or reaction provided to anything that appears in the zines. That leaves it as an occasionally interesting compilation of (frequently) loony political views, but lacking any real substance for anyone wanting to do more than just browse.
