As reported recently in Broken Pencil, Montreal has a thriving spoken word scene babbling away just at the moment. At Wired on Words you can put a piece of that scene on your desktop. The site singles out one performer each month and gives you a RealAudio reading of some of their work. There isn’t much else to do at this site other than accept an invitation to buy one of their compilation CDS, but a quick, simple, single-minded site built around streaming audio artwork is no bad thing. What this site really needs more than anything else is more stuff from more people presented more often. According to their own homepage the site is just getting off the ground, so hopefully the number of offerings will expand. (DW)
