From the Horse Less Press Kickstarter:
Horse Less Press is a micro-press run by poets celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.
Established in 2004 by Jen Tynes, Horse Less Press is a thin-skinned, bare bones literary press. We publish an online journal, hand-made chapbooks and pamphlets, and in 2010 we started publishing full-length perfect-bound books. We are especially interested in improvisation, collaboration, hybridization, and wild constraint. Horse Less Press editors and contributing editors are Erika Howsare, Jennifer Denrow, Michael Sikkema, and Jen Tynes; we also recruit and are thankful to receive the feedback and assistance of several great contributing readers, designers, artists, and DIY-ers. To get an idea of who and what we publish, browse our catalogue and read our online journal.
In 2014, we will publish five full-length books of poetry and fifteen chapbooks by Pattie McCarthy, Tim Early, John Duvernoy, Kirsten Jorgenson, Russ Woods, Nikki Wallschlaeger, Jenny Drai, Carolina Maugeri, Kris Hall, Scott Hammer, Kristi Maxwell, C.S. Carrier, Siel Ju, Mark Lamoureux, Brenda Iijima & Annie Won, Judith Roitman, Frank Sherlock, Dan Brady, Lauren Gordon, and Tony Mancus. This is more than double what we have published in years previous, but we were so excited about these books we simply could not say no. We are working with fabulous book designers HR Hegnauer and Alban Fischer and will be printing our books through Bookmobile. We are excited to be growing, and as always we want and need you to be involved. Our editors are poets and adjunct instructors with no outside funding for the press beyond book sales and your support. Pre-orders and subscriptions are absolutely necessary if we are going to keep publishing exciting and brilliant books.
They’ve already reached their goal, but we think it’s important to keep this train a’ choo-choo-ing, so if you got some shekels, give a few, or pre-order some books! We’re excited about a bunch of these.
