Collected by Marc Bell, Nog a Dod samples close to a decade of Canadian doodle comics and ephemera. I find collections tend to force a reader to view separate works comparatively which make them about as appealing as a “Best of 1998” CD. This book, on the other hand, is like a found mix tape, it’s not made for me nor do I understand it fully but it has the kind of honest inspiration that makes any creative pursuit interesting. Nog a Dod has completely legitimized doodling in my eyes. It may seem a banal and fleeting motion but it is metacommentary at its purest, occupying, along with this book, that special territory where self-indulgence becomes art. (Bartosz A Gawdzik)
