Just when you thought crushing people into the closing doors was the most you could do to maximize your commuting economy, along came the Toronto Subway Rider Efficiency Guide. Toronto zine veteran and transit advocate Sean Lerner began producing the pocket guides last summer, partly as a joke and partly as a gloriously nerdy exercise in calculated commuting. Using the meticulously detailed guide, a rider can determine the best place to board a subway train in order to exit closest to the corresponding escalator, elevator, or staircase of their choice at their destination.
